Stuart David Greatorex was born in Sheffield
England in 1953. At the age of eleven got his first guitar and after a few years began to play and emulate some of the then popular musicians of the time. The late sixties was an inspiring time for young musicians as music was developing rapidly and new genres of styles emerging from the rock, blues and jazz styles. Stuart's roots came predominately from the blues. Many of the most accomplished rock/blues guitarists we have known were developed from this era e.g: Jimmy Page, Eric clapton, Robert Fripp, Jimmy Hendrix but to name a few.
Stuart left England in 1969 and immigrated to
Australia where he pursued his career in the music industry joining his first band "Threshold". this was by no means a run of the mill band. Doing covers of bands such as " Yes",Jeff Beck" and Pink Floyd. Managed by Michael Gudinski of Australian of Entertainment Exchange the band toured and played many major events around the country supporting major australian artists and bands. Creativity and Originality was always one of Stuart's primary attributes so it was natural to move forward to writing, recording and performing original music. This he did with some success having won an Australia wide competition for original music. This was subsequently represented by the publishing company Tonki Group in the French Midas music festival in 1988. During this time he advanced his studies at Geelong University in music industry services. Upon completion formed Rock Age Music Industry Services. Devoted to advancing the careers of locally based artists and bands Stuart recorded, promoted and managed many of them over a few years. Many of Stuart's students from this time went on to rewarding careers within the music industry.
Now residing in Queens New York USA since 2003 Stuart is continuing to offer quality tuition in guitar with Play Learn Guitar.
